Branislav Ivanovic: 'John Terry is still the real Chelsea captain'

Branislav Ivanovic insists that John Terry remains Chelsea's real captain after the right-back wore the armband in Chelsea's 2-0 win over Arsenal.

Branislav Ivanovic has insisted that John Terry is still the real captain of Chelsea.

The 34-year-old defender was dropped in the Blues' 2-0 win over Arsenal, with Kurt Zouma taking his place and Ivanovic wearing the armband.

However, Ivanovic has defended Terry and says that he is still the club's leader on the pitch.

"I'm just wearing the armband, our captain is John Terry," Ivanovic told reporters after the match.

"He is very important to us. We all know who the real captain is.

"It was a very tough game. Very important for us, we needed a big win and needed a big performance. We played as a team and this was an important game for us."

Chelsea moved up into 10th place in the Premier League table for the time being.
