Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho punished with one-match stadium ban

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is hit with an immediate one-match stadium ban and £40,000 fine by the FA as punishment for his misconduct.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been hit with a one-match stadium ban by the Football Association as punishment for his recent misconduct charge.

The Portuguese coach, whose future at Chelsea has come under question, has also been fined £40,000 and will serve the suspension with immediate effect.

The 52-year-old was charged last week for angrily confronting referee Jonathan Moss during his side's 2-1 defeat to West Ham United at Upton Park after Nemanja Matic was sent off.

Mourinho was ordered to the stands shortly after his assistant Silvino Louro was given a similar punishment, but he has been sanctioned even further.

A statement from the FA read: "The Chelsea manager admitted an FA charge of misconduct regarding his language and/or behaviour towards the match officials in or around the dressing room area during half time of the game against West Ham United on October 24, 2015.

"With regard to Chelsea coach Silvino Louro, who denied an FA misconduct charge in relation to the same game, The FA, having considered further representation, withdrew the formal charge of improper conduct but reminded him of his responsibilities."

The ban means that Mourinho will not be attending Chelsea's Premier League match against Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday.

The Blues will face Stoke after suffering a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool in their last league outing.
