Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho hits back at 'envious' Graeme Souness

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho hits back at Graeme Souness and Jamie Carragher after they criticised his players' conduct against PSG.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has accused Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness of being 'envious' after he strongly criticised the players' conduct on the field against Paris Saint-Germain.

The Scotsman described Chelsea's players as "pathetic" after the majority of the team surrounded referee Bjorn Kuipers in a bid to get Zlatan Ibrahimovic sent off at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher was also on the TV panel during the game and he described the Chelsea players' behaviour as "disgraceful" following the 2-2 draw, which resulted in PSG qualifying for the Champions League quarter-finals on away goals.

When asked about the pundits' comments in today's press conference, Mourinho said: "I'm not like people want me to be, the way people sometimes like to describe me. Jamie stopped playing a couple of years ago and in two years he forgot everything he did on the pitch.

"Mr Souness also forgot but he stopped playing quite a long time [ago], and he also forgets that a couple of years after he left Benfica I coached there. I know a lot about him.

"I learned so much about him but also a certain kind of education, not just in football but also in life. So I prefer to laugh and say that envy is the biggest tribute that the shadows give to the man."

Chelsea will switch their attention to the Premier League this weekend when they take on Southampton.
