Oriol Romeu facing period on sidelines

A knee injury is expected to keep on-loan Valencia midfielder Oriol Romeu on the sidelines for the next four to six weeks.

Valencia midfielder Oriol Romeu is expected to miss the next four to six weeks of the season after undergoing knee surgery on Monday.

The Spaniard, who is on loan at the Mestalla from Chelsea, had struggled with the injury in the early part of the campaign.

However, the midfielder has now undergone an operation to repair a ruptured medial meniscus in his right knee, which is expected to keep him on the sidelines for at least one month.

As it stands, Romeu is due to return to his parent club at the end of the season, but it is believed that Valencia are keen to secure his services on a permanent basis.
