Chelsea captain John Terry backs striker Fernando Torres to "kick on" from his goalscoring performance against Steaua Bucuresti.

Chelsea skipper John Terry has backed Fernando Torres to rediscover his goalscoring form in the latter stages of the season.

The Spaniard found the net in the Blues' 3-1 win over Steaua Bucuresti but also missed a penalty late in the game.

"It only takes that one goal or something to happen for him to really kick on, but he's putting in a shift for the team as well," The Mirror quotes him as saying.

"Sometimes that doesn't get picked up as much as it should do. You know what it's like for strikers.

"Mentally he has had to be very strong - and he is. He has got the full support of the fans and the players. It will always remain that way."

Torres has scored 17 goals in all competitions for Chelsea this season in 49 appearances.
