John Terry: 'No room for sentiment at Chelsea'

Chelsea skipper John Terry admits that he has sympathy for Petr Cech but feels that there always has to be strong competition for places at the club.

Chelsea skipper John Terry has admitted that he is disappointed for Petr Cech but feels that there is no room for sentiment at Stamford Bridge.

Jose Mourinho dropped the 33-year-old in favour of Thibaut Courtois, who has made an excellent start to the campaign, making several fine stops in the Blues' 2-0 win over Leicester City.

He told reporters: "It is very difficult as players, not only for Petr, but we all have competition. That is the way Chelsea has been like since I have been at the club.

"We have world-class players all over the pitch. It is so difficult because he has been the best keeper in the world for 10 years and in the Premier League. Thibaut has come in and done great in the first few games.

"It is very hard to take for big Petr but he is Chelsea through-and-through and has been unbelievable in the way he has responded in training – and in his attitude."

Chelsea are second in the Premier League after two games this season.
