Romelu Lukaku: 'I requested loan move'

Romelu Lukaku reveals that he requested a loan move from Chelsea, rather than Jose Mourinho forcing him out of Stamford Bridge.

Romelu Lukaku has revealed that it was his decision to leave Chelsea to move on a season-long loan deal to Everton.

With Chelsea's strikers struggling in front of goal, manager Jose Mourinho has been criticised for allowing Lukaku to leave Stamford Bridge, but the Belgian international has insisted that the Portuguese coach isn't to blame.

The 20-year-old striker told The Telegraph: "I did not know if I would be playing for Chelsea so I asked the manager to let me leave.

"We spoke and I told him. It's unfair to criticise Mourinho for letting me go because it was my decision."

Lukaku has scored three goals since his move to Goodison Park.
