Report: Claudio Ranieri wants Frank Lampard at Monaco

Monaco coach Claudio Ranieri wants to sign Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard, according to a report.

Monaco coach Claudio Ranieri wants to sign midfielder Frank Lampard from Chelsea, according to the Daily Mail.

It has been reported that the Italian wants to recruit the 34-year-old on a free transfer when his current contract with Chelsea runs out at the end of the season.

Lampard has already hinted that he could leave the Blues, with current Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez too suggesting that the England international is likely to part company with the London outfit next summer.

Ranieri signed Lampard from West Ham United in 2001 when he was the Chelsea manager and has kept a healthy relationship with the midfielder over the years.

Monaco are currently second in Ligue 2.
