Report: Schalke 04 to tempt Andre Schurrle back to Germany

Former Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo will try to convince Andre Schurrle to join him at Schalke 04 this January despite a lack of funds.

Schalke 04 boss Roberto Di Matteo will try to tempt Chelsea's Andre Schurrle back to the Bundesliga this January, reports suggest.

The former Chelsea manager has yet to make a move for any of his past players, though he supposedly came close to capturing £50m flop Fernando Torres during the summer.

However, according to The Express, 24-year-old Schurrle is a target for the Italian tactician who is desperate to bolster his attacking options.

Both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are said to be preparing £25m bids for the German international, a price that might rule Schalke out of the running.
