Cesar Azpilicueta: "It is a dream to play at a World Cup"

Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta says that it was 'a dream come true' to be named in the Spain squad for this summer's World Cup.

Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta has revealed that it was 'a dream come true' to be named in the Spain squad for the World Cup.

The 24-year-old, who was one of the Premier League's best defenders last season, is also confident that La Roja can secure back-to-back World Cups this summer.

"For every football player it is a dream to play at a World Cup. This one is in Brazil and Spain won the last one so expectations are high. The whole world will be watching," he told reporters at a press conference.

"We have the experience of last year, when we played in the Confederations Cup in Brazil. Obviously a World Cup is different although we know what we can expect and we have to adapt as quickly as possible to the conditions.

"It is very difficult to keep winning but we are going to try. We know what we want to do, how we want to play and I hope that our style helps us to achieve what we want to do. When you play for your country you carry everybody's emotions. When we won in 2010 you could see the hope it gave to the whole country. Hopefully we can do that again."

Azpilicueta is expected to battle with Atletico Madrid's Juanfran for the right-back berth in the Spain XI.
