Cheltenham Town part company with Mark Yates

League Two side Cheltenham Town part company with manager Mark Yates after five years in charge.

Cheltenham Town have announced that they have parted company with manager Mark Yates.

The 44-year-old has lost his job with the League Two side following their poor start to the season, which sees them sitting 18th in the table.

Yates, who took charge at Whaddon Road in December 2009, led the Robins into the League Two playoffs in 2012 and 2013.

He was the third longest-serving manager in the top four divisions of English football, behind Arsenal's Arsene Wenger and Paul Tisdale of Exeter City.

"Cheltenham Town have parted company with manager Mark Yates, with immediate effect," a statement on the club's official website read.

Yates's final match in charge was the 4-1 home defeat to Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.
