Keylor Navas, Bryan Oviedo, Bryan Ruiz and Joel Campbell are among those in the Costa Rica squad for the 2022 World Cup.

Costa Rica's squad for the 2022 World Cup has been confirmed, with Keylor Navas, Bryan Oviedo, Bryan Ruiz and Joel Campbell among those set to represent their country at the tournament.

The Selection famously reached the quarter-finals of the 2014 competition, topping Group D ahead of Uruguay, with Italy and England finishing third and fourth respectively.

However, Costa Rica were eliminated in the group stage of the 2018 tournament, which was also the case in their competitions back in 2002 and 2006.

Luis Fernando Suarez's side will take on Spain, Japan and Germany in the group stage of the upcoming World Cup, with their first fixture against Spain scheduled for November 23.

Costa Rica have not been in action since beating Uzbekistan 2-1 in a friendly at the end of September, but they will take on Nigeria and Iraq in two friendlies ahead of the competition.

There is plenty of experience in the squad, with goalkeeper Navas representing his country on 107 occasions, and he will be a certain starter in the competition.

Oviedo has 74 caps, while Celso Borges and Bryan Ruiz have made 154 and 144 appearances respectively for the national side, and there is also experience in midfield in the shape of Yeltsin Tejeda.

There are only three forwards in the squad, with Johan Venegas, who has 11 goals in 80 appearances, joined by Anthony Contreras.

Meanwhile, former Arsenal attacker Campbell is also in the selection, with the 30-year-old scoring 25 goals in 118 caps for his country in all competitions.

Douglas Lopez, Anthony Hernandez and Alvaro Zamora have also been named in the squad despite the trio having just three international caps between them.

There is also a spot for Brandon Aguilera, who plays his club football for Nottingham Forest.
