Half-Time Report: Denmark 1-2 Portugal

Portugal lead Denmark 2-1 at the break in their Euro 2012 Group B encounter.

Portugal lead Denmark 2-1 at the break in their Euro 2012 Group B encounter.

It was the Danes who made the brighter start to proceedings with Michael Krohn-Dehli a lively presence early on.

Christian Eriksen came close for the Danes with five minutes on the clock, however, he miscued when he might have done better.

Portugal began to exert some pressure as the half developed, with Nani searching out Cristiano Ronaldo in the box on more than one occasion.

Meanwhile, Miguel Veloso tested the palms of Stephan Andersen after 13 minutes. Portugal continued to threaten as the half developed and Helder Postiga might have tapped home with an effort after 25 minutes.

They did take the lead, however, moments later when Pepe sent a thumping header beyond Andersen and into the back of the net.

Ronaldo might have added a second with a free-kick after 35 minutes, however it just drifted over the target.

It was two for Portugal, however, after 36 minutes when Postiga turned a Nani cross into the back of the net.

Denmark were handed a route back into the match five minutes before the break, however, when Nicklas Bendtner headed in at the far post.
