Deportivo La Coruna in two-goal victory over Las Palmas

An own goal from David Simon and a second from Lucas gives Deportivo La Coruna a 2-0 win over Las Palmas.

Deportivo La Coruna have beaten Las Palmas 2-0 after a quiet match in Gran Canaria.

La Coruna opened the scoring in the 19th minute when a pass across the box was turned into his own net by David Simon.

Las Palmas dominated possession but were unable to create a chance until the 34th minute, when Vicente Gomez's strike was saved by German Lux.

Alex Bergantinos had two chances to double Deportivo's lead on the verge of half time. First, his shot from a corner deflected behind off the left post before his shot moments later was saved by Javi Varas.

Lucas Perez came close to scoring in the 68th minute but his shot went straight into Varas's hands.

It was Luisinho's chance next and he rocketed the ball towards the right side of the net, but Varas kept the score down once again.

Lucas added a second goal deep into stoppage time, finishing from close range after picking up Faycal Fajr's pass.
