Joey Barton: 'England will not win World Cup'

Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton blasts the media for 'overhyping' England's recent World Cup qualification.

Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton has criticised the media for 'overhyping' England's recent World Cup qualification.

Tuesday's 2-0 win over Poland ensured that Roy Hodgson led his side into the finals of the competition, but Barton has played down their chances of success next summer.

"Interesting to see the media and over hype merchants jump on the Brazil 2014 hope bandwagon with laser like focus after yesterday's result," he tweeted.

"Lets forget Brazil. We will never win it. The fact that there are 6/7 sides better and the climate is against us, condemns us to that."

Barton's one and only England appearance came in February 2007.
