Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott has insisted that he is always ready to feature for England.
The centre-back played in the Three Lions' 8-0 win over San Marino on Friday, despite falling out of favour for his club.
Lescott was brought into the squad following injuries to Gary Cahill and Michael Dawson, but the 30-year-old has said that he has kept himself prepared for potential call-ups.
"You've got to keep yourself prepared physically, and I've been doing that. Any time I am called upon, I have to make sure I'm ready," Lescott told reporters.
"I wasn't in the squad originally but Roy said he wouldn't have any qualms if he needed to call me in.
"Playing for England is the ultimate achievement of your career. That's 25 caps now, which is great."
Lescott could feature in Tuesday night's key World Cup qualifier against Montenegro.
