Kevin Mirallas: 'I must do more to justify Everton spot'

Kevin Mirallas confesses that he needs to "score more goals and get more assists" if he is to keep his place in Everton's starting lineup.

Everton forward Kevin Mirallas has admitted that he is looking to heed the advice of manager Ronald Koeman by adding some more creativity to his game.

The Dutchman claimed earlier this week that star striker Romelu Lukaku was having to do too much work on his own, even hinting that he would look to bring in reinforcements in January if things do not improve.

Mirallas is in agreement with Koeman's comments, which came after the Toffees ended their five-match wait for a win in the Premier League with victory over West Ham United last weekend, and he hopes to make a point in his side's meeting with Chelsea on Saturday.

"Personally, I need to create more, score more goals and get more assists," he told the Merseyside outfit's official website. "It is not easy and we need the whole team to help each other so we can improve even more.

"I have spoken to the manager and he has told me I have been playing well but he wants more, and I agreed. I have looked at my game, looked at situations when I need to dribble more, or pass or shoot more. This week I have been training hard because we know it's another big game."

Mirallas has one goal and one assist in 11 appearances for Everton in all competitions this season.
