David Moyes confesses that there was nothing Everton could have done to prevent Robin van Persie's goal this afternoon.

David Moyes has admitted that his Everton side was defeated by a "wonder goal" against Arsenal this afternoon.

Gunners captain Robin van Persie scored the only goal of the game with a volleyed effort at the Emirates Stadium and Moyes has confessed that there was little his players could have done to prevent it.

"We lost to a wonder goal," Moyes told Sky Sports News. "Good players do that and Arsenal have got good players.

"The boys did a great job and they worked really hard to stay in the game.

"I thought we were on top when they scored."

The loss has seen the Toffees slip to 12th in the Premier League table.
