Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin reportedly emerges as a potential transfer option for Roma, who are looking for a replacement for Tammy Abraham.

Roma have reportedly emerged as a potential destination for Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Having been at Goodison Park since 2016, Calvert-Lewin is now viewed as somewhat of an Everton stalwart after developing into a key player.

In 209 appearances in all competitions, the England international has contributed 60 goals and 19 assists, but his game time has decreased in recent campaigns.

Between 2021 and 2023, frequent injury issues have restricted Calvert-Lewin to 17 outings apiece in the top flight, with just seven goals being scored during that period.

As a result, Everton have only narrowly avoided relegation on each occasion, while the player's contract now only has two years left to run.

With Everton continuing to face severe FFP restrictions, the Toffees board are now realistically at a point where they could consider parting ways with the 26-year-old for the right price.

Everton's valuation remains unclear, a consequence of clubs unlikely to be tempted to pay a big fee given Calvert-Lewin's recent fitness record, but it appears that there is interest from elsewhere.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma are contemplating whether to try to negotiate a deal for the frontman over the coming weeks.

The report suggests that Calvert-Lewin has been offered to the Italian giants, who are known to be in the market for a new striker due to Tammy Abraham's knee injury.

While West Ham United's Gianluca Scamacca has been heavily linked with a switch to Stadio Olimpico, a transfer is yet to be completed, throwing up the possibility of alternatives entering the equation.

Roma would allegedly only be interested if the proposal was 'a zero-cost loan with the option to buy', rather than paying a significant portion of the player's wages and a mandatory clause.

Calvert-Lewin would reportedly be happy to make the move to Rome, with it suggested that Everton may be willing to allow their star man a chance to kick-start his career in the hope of boosting his valuation.

Sean Dyche's side have been linked with a move for Almeria striker El Bilal Toure, but it appears that the Mali international is more likely to sign for Atalanta BC.
