Didier Deschamps pleased with World Cup draw

Didier Deschamps says that he is glad France will not have to travel large distances during the group stages of next year's World Cup finals in Brazil.

France manager Didier Deschamps has admitted that he is happy with their group stage draw for the World Cup.

Les Bleus were drawn against Switzerland, Ecuador and Honduras in Group E and Deschamps was pleased that his side will not be forced to travel large distances in Brazil.

"It could have been more complicated. Beyond the opponents the good news is that we do not play in the north, with high temperatures and humidity and a very large distance to cover," he told reporters.

"The matches are more or less in the same area, which is not too far from our base camp. This is rather good news. Switzerland will be the most difficult opponent.

"I do not know the others as much as the Swiss. I saw that Ecuador finished fourth in the South American qualifiers, and Honduras were third in qualifying."

France failed to win a single game during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
