Newcastle United defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa has said that he is hopeful of being named in the France squad for next year's World Cup finals.
The 24-year old has won three caps for his country, but was not called up for their recent World Cup playoff meetings against Ukraine.
Yanga-Mbiwa has admitted that he is unsure whether Didier Deschamps will recall him in time for next year's tournament in Brazil, but has been made aware that the French manager has been watching Newcastle's recent performances.
"I don't know - I try to do well and I know the gaffer of the France team watched the [Norwich] game," he told nufcTV.
"We won and at the end of the day it's for him to decide if he calls me or not.
"The French team qualified and all the players are happy, and trying to do well to help themselves go to the World Cup."
