Fulham boss Martin Jol believes that the state of the Stoke City pitch contributed to his side's downfall after their 2-0 defeat.

Fulham manager Martin Jol believes that the conditions at the Britannia Stadium contributed to their 2-0 defeat against Stoke City.

Second half goals from Jonathan Walters and Rory Delap have left Jol's side in 12th place in the Premier League table, while the Potters have moved up into seventh.

"Before the game we said the grass was high, maybe it's one of their tactics but it didn't help them because we did well," said Jol.

"After that we tried to fight them and contain them instead of playing our own style but it was not easy today, you know.

"First 20 minutes were okay, after that it was a chilly, windy afternoon."

Fulham next travel to Poland to take on Wisla Krakow in the Europa League on Thursday.
