Preview: Getafe vs. Osasuna - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's La Liga clash between Getafe and Osasuna, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Osasuna will be aiming to make it three wins from their last four matches in La Liga when they continue their campaign with an away fixture against Getafe on Saturday afternoon.

The visitors have made a strong start to the campaign, picking up 14 points from their opening eight matches to sit in seventh spot in the table, while Getafe are down in 15th, boasting seven points from their first eight games.

Getafe finally secured their first La Liga win of the season last time out, recording a 2-0 victory over Alaves, with Mauro Arambarri and Luis Milla on the scoresheet at Estadio Coliseum.

It has been a tough start to the campaign for the capital outfit, but their success last time out moved them out of the relegation zone and into 15th, and they will be looking to use the Alaves result as a springboard.

Getafe actually have the joint-second best defensive record in Spain's top flight this season, having only conceded six times, but they have scored just five, which is the second-worst attacking record.

Jose Bordalas's side finished 12th in La Liga last season, and they have only spent one campaign out of Spain's top flight since 2004, so it would be a surprise to see them in relegation trouble this term.

The Deep Blue Ones have won each of their last four home league games against Osasuna, including a 3-2 success in the corresponding match between the two sides during the 2023-24 season.

Osasuna have found Getafe to be tough opposition in recent history, winning just one of their last 10 top-flight meetings with the capital side, but that came on home soil during the 2023-24 campaign.

Vicente Moreno's side will also enter this match in a confident mood, having recorded a 4-2 victory over Barcelona last time out, with Osasuna ending the Catalan outfit's 100% start to the campaign.

Los Rojillos have won two of their last three in the league, picking up seven points in the process, and they currently sit seventh in the table, boasting 14 points from their opening eight games of the season.

Osasuna are only actually two points behind fourth-placed Atletico Madrid, so it is possible that they could be in the top four heading into the October international break.

The visitors finished 11th in Spain's top flight last season, but they were seventh in 2022-23 and certainly look capable of pushing for a position in that area during the current campaign.

Team News

Osasuna's Bryan Zaragoza on September 21, 2024© Imago

Getafe did not suffer any fitness problems against Alaves last time out, meaning that head coach Bordalas is again set to have a full squad available for this weekend's contest.

As a result, it is possible that the home side could be unchanged, but Borja Mayoral has now made four substitute appearances after overcoming a serious knee injury, and he could now be ready to come into the XI.

Juan Iglesias and Carles Alena are among the other options for change, but Mayoral for Bertug Yildirim could be the only alteration to the side that took to the field for the first whistle last time out.

As for Osasuna, Jon Moncayola, Iker Munoz and Kike Barja will miss the match through injury, but there are no fresh fitness concerns for the visitors to the Spanish capital.

Ante Budimir scored twice against Barcelona and will again operate through the middle, while Bryan Zaragoza was electric against the division leaders and is another certain starter.

A 4-3-3 formation should also include Ruben Garcia in a forward area, while Lucas Torro, Pablo Ibanez and Aimar Oroz are set to operate in the middle of the park for Moreno's team.

Getafe possible starting lineup:
Soria; Dakonam, Berrocal, Alderete, Rico; Perez, Arambarri, Milla, Sola; Uche, Mayoral

Osasuna possible starting lineup:
Herrera; Areso, Catena, Boyomo, Cruz; Ibanez, Torro, Oroz; Ruben Garcia, Budimir, Zaragoza

We say: Getafe 1-1 Osasuna

There has only been one draw in the last six league meetings between these two sides, but we can see the points being shared here. Getafe will have been boosted by their first league win of the campaign, and the home side should be good enough to secure a share of the spoils against an in-form Osasuna.
