Excelsior striker Tom van Weert failed to test Mickey van der Hart, as he directed two shots wide of the goal.

Daryl van Mieghem and Ninos Gouriye tried to put Excelsior ahead in stoppage time, but they were thwarted by Van der Hart.

Van Weert was Excelsior's most lively outlet in the second half, but he was unable to beat Van der Hart with two shots early in the half.

Sjoerd Overgoor and Glynor Plet shot wide for Go Ahead, before Excelsior's Adil Auassar's shot was blocked by a defender.

The closing 10 minutes saw both teams going for the win, and Marnix Kolder saw two of his shots saved by Coutinho.

The result means the teams remain 13th and 14th in Eredivisie table.
