Groningen defeat Willem II in Eredivisie

Groningen defeat Willem 4-1 in the Eredivisie thanks in part to a brace from Tjaronn Chery.

Groningen moved up to eighth in the Eredivisie table with a 4-1 away win over Willem II this evening.

Willem failed to take anything from the match, despite enjoying 57% of the possession and having 17 shots to their opponents' 14.

Jarchinio Antonia gave Groningen an early lead after being set up by Tjaronn Chery, who added a second in the 22nd minute as Michael de Leeuw provided the assist.

The result was put beyond doubt in the 62nd minute as Antonia set up De Leeuw to score the third.

Ali Messaoud scored a consolation goal for Willem five minutes later, but Chery added a fourth Groningen goal in the 95th minute to put the icing on the cake for his team.
