St Mirren boss Danny Lennon angry over penalty decision

St Mirren manager Danny Lennon insists that Hearts should not have been awarded a penalty during his side's 2-1 defeat on Wednesday night.

St Mirren manager Danny Lennon has expressed his anger at the penalty decision that condemned his side to a 2-1 defeat to Hearts on Wednesday evening.

The Buddies boss insisted that Marc McAusland's foul on Dale Carrick took place outside the area and should not have resulted in a spot kick.

"I've watched it four or five times and I'm still inconclusive whether there is any contact at all," Sky Sports News quotes him as saying. "If you're asking me 'is it inside the box?' No, it's not.

"Sometimes they go for you and sometimes they don't. I certainly thought it was a game-changer in terms of trying to control the game."

Jamie Hamill scored Hearts' winner from the spot after Callum Paterson had cancelled out Steven Thompson's opener for the Saints.
