Steve Bruce is apparently willing to sell Nick Proschwitz, who has failed to impress since signing from Paderborn for £2.6m.
If Bruce manages to sell the striker, then he will fight Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion for Bendtner, according to the Daily Star.
Bendtner played under Bruce while on loan at Birmingham City but would have to take a wage cut if he were to sign for Hull.
