Terry Connor will take charge of Ipswich Town this afternoon while Mick McCarthy recovers from a bout of flu.

Ipswich Town has confirmed that Terry Connor will take charge of the first team this afternoon for their game against Middlesbrough.

Mick McCarthy has been not been able to work since Tuesday after contracting a flu virus.

The assistant manager told the club's website: "I have spoken to Mick through the week and I know how bad he has been feeling.

"As far as I can remember in all my time working with Mick, it will be the first game he has missed so that shows you how bad he feels.

"We are fully prepared for the game though and the best remedy we can give Mick is to give him three points this afternoon."

Ipswich start the day 21st in the Championship table.
