Mick McCarthy hits back at Ipswich Town fans

Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy launches into a foul-mouthed rant following criticism from fans during the side's 2-1 win at Burton Albion.

Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy has responded with defiance after being heckled by a section of the club's fans during Saturday's victory at Burton Albion.

The Tractor Boys had to rely on a last-minute winner from late substitute Bersant Celina - on loan from Manchester City - to secure all three points in what proved to be a tense affair for the East Anglian side.

Fans were heard during the contest shouting "Mick McCarthy, your football is shit" and "Mick McCarthy, get out of our club" in echoes of unrest that dogged the side for much of last season.

"They crept back in did they?" McCarthy told reporters after the game. "You're kidding me. I think they more than crept back in.

"Listen, unless somebody decides otherwise, you've got me, boring old big nose fucking fart with shite football until May. Unless somebody decides different.

"It hurts me because it can affect the players, but it doesn't bother me. I have to be honest. I prefer it the other way. We changed the hit parade for six games, but it's back. I can tolerate it."

McCarthy also criticised fans who had been calling for Celina to be brought on earlier in the game, saying: "I don't give a shite about that, by the way. He didn't go on because of that, let me just clear that up.

"In fact, there's more chance of him not going on when they start telling me what to do. And yes, I am a belligerent fuck. Let's just clear that up."

Town are currently 10th in the Championship table, two points off the playoffs.
