Juventus centre-back Giorgio Chiellini has admitted that his side are ruing the dropped points away to Copenhagen and at home to Galatasaray, as winning either would have meant that Wednesday night's win would have qualified them from Group S.
Chiellini said that even though his side won 3-1 against Copenhagen they were still not at their best, but it is a bonus that reaching the second round is now in their own hands.
"Now we regret the points we dropped at Copenhagen and against Galatasaray - we could have already qualified had we won one of those games," UEFA.com quotes Chiellini as saying.
"Today we played well, nothing exceptional, but we needed the points and we got them. We created fewer chances compared with the game in Denmark - they were more prepared to defend this time around and are always dangerous from set pieces because they are really strong physically.
"We did very well to react quickly after their equaliser but now we have to prepare for the most important game of all, in Istanbul. It will be difficult but we are happy to go there with destiny in our own hands."
A point away to Galatasaray in two weeks' time will be enough for Juventus to qualify from the group.
