Antonio Conte rues missed chances as Juventus drop points

Juventus coach Antonio Conte laments his side's wasteful finishing following a 1-1 draw with Copenhagen in their Champions League opener last night.

Juventus coach Antonio Conte has insisted that wasteful finishing was to blame for a disappointing 1-1 draw in last night's Champions League opener against Copenhagen.

The Old Lady were held in Denmark after failing to convert a number of gilt-edged chances, with Paul Pogba, Carlos Tevez and Arturo Vidal among those guilty of missing from point-blank range.

Conte has rejected claims that Juve underestimated their Group B opponents, while giving some credit to Copenhagen goalkeeper Johan Wiland for keeping the Bianconeri at bay with string of fine saves.

He told reporters: "I do not think we have ever created so many opportunities to score in one single game before during my period as Juventus coach.

"During my career I have learnt that creating at least 10 glorious opportunities to score is not enough to win games if you don't put the ball in.

"Their goalkeeper was just amazing but we also helped him with some poor finishing. I don't think we underestimated them because last year we drew one game in Denmark as well."

Fabio Quagliarella did help Conte's side salvage a point at the Parken Stadion, maintaining Juve's unbeaten start to the campaign in all competitions.
