Cagliari hold Juventus to draw

Cagliari take a point away from the home of the Serie A champions following a 1-1 draw with Juventus.

Cagliari have frustrated Juventus to secure a surprise 1-1 draw in Serie A on Saturday evening.

Juventus started the game confidently but soon fell behind when Victor Ibarbo shocked the Serie A champions by beating a number of players on his way to scoring a superb individual goal.

Cagliari looked well worth their lead for the majority of the first half but almost lost the advantage when Sebastian Giovinco struck the crossbar with a brilliant free kick.

Emanuele Giaccherini came agonisingly close to equalising just after the break but visiting goalkeeper Michael Agazzi was alert to tip a curling effort away from goal.

Juventus coach Antonio Conte sent on Mirko Vucinic early in the second half and the change had the desired effect when the forward poked in Arturo Vidal's header in the 61st minute.

The hosts threatened to snatch all three points in the closing stages, with Claudio Marchisio's miscued header flashing wide, but Conte's men were forced to settle for a draw.
