Kilmarnock confirm the departure of manager Kenny Shiels, who has left the club by mutual consent.

Kilmarnock have confirmed that manager Kenny Shiels will no longer take the club forward following the termination of his contract.

Reports emerged this morning stating that the club had parted company with Shiels following a ninth-placed finish in the Scottish Premier League.

The club have claimed that the recent disciplinary problems involving Shiels, who was issued with a four-match touchline ban for breaching Scottish Football Association rules, was one reason behind Shiels's departure.

A statement on the club's official website said: "For these reasons, both footballing and regulatory, it was mutually agreed that his contract as manager should end. The club wishes Kenny every success in the future and thanks him for delivering the League Cup to Rugby Park in 2012."

Shiels spent three years at the club - starting as an assistant to Mixu Paatelainen and then moving to the managerial position on an interm basis before being named as the permanent boss.
