Report: Gary Bowyer to replace Brian McDermott at Leeds United

Blackburn Rovers boss Gary Bowyer is reportedly in line to replace Brian McDermott to become the next permanent manager of Leeds United.

Blackburn Rovers boss Gary Bowyer has emerged as the leading candidate to become the next manager of Leeds United, according to a report.

Brian McDermott left his role as boss by mutual consent on Friday after 14 months at Elland Road.

Leeds owner Massimo Cellino has outlined his ambition for a young manager to replace McDermott and feels that Bowyer fits the profile due to his success with Blackburn during the 2013-14 campaign, reports the Daily Star.

Leeds finished 15th in the Championship last term, while Bowyer guided Rovers to an eighth-placed finish in his first full season in charge at Ewood Park.
