Former Blades boss Neil Warnock 'on Sheffield Wednesday shortlist'

Former Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock is reportedly one of five names on a shortlist of those who could take over at Sheffield Wednesday.

Former Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock has reportedly been put on a shortlist of five names wanted to become the new Sheffield Wednesday manager.

Warnock, 65, has been without a job since leaving Leeds United earlier this year and recently said that he would be interested in the vacant post following Dave Jones's sacking at the weekend, according to The Mirror.

If appointed, Warnock's arrival would likely be met with disapproval by Owls fans because of his eight-year spell with Wednesday's city rivals United.

Despite this, Wednesday chairman Milan Mandaric has identified Warnock as one of five possible new managers, according to Sky Sports News.

Stuart Gray was in charge of the Owls for last night's visit of league leaders Leicester City and led the club to a shock victory, just their second of the season.
