Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson has admitted that he would like to keep Esteban Cambiasso at the club ahead of an uncertain summer for the veteran midfielder.
Cambiasso's current deal at the King Power Stadium expires at the end of the season and an extension could hinge on whether the Foxes remain in the Premier League, but Pearson has hinted that there is a place in the squad for the Argentine.
"I'm pleased we have him - it's that simple. It goes without saying he's been a very positive influence this season," the Leicester boss told reporters.
"He's not the only player coming out of contract but I only have positive things to say about him.
"By saying he'll wait until the end of season before deciding anything is a sensible way of looking at things. I wouldn't be against talking about it now."
Leicester, who are currently six points behind of 17th-placed Hull City, meet West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
