Liverpool reveal that striker Fabio Borini could return to full fitness by the end of the season, despite being ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.

Liverpool's head of performance Glen Driscoll has revealed that striker Fabio Borini could make a return to fitness before the close of the season.

The Italian frontman was ruled out for the remainder of the campaign with a shoulder injury that he suffered during the Reds' 5-0 win over Swansea City in February.

"He's due to be probably another six weeks from this point on," Driscoll told the club's official website. "The injury he's had is normally eight to 12 weeks. He's quite a quick rehabilitator.

"At the moment, it's looking pretty positive for Fabio that he could be back ahead of schedule and maybe make the end of the season."

The 21-year-old has had an injury-plagued start to his career at Anfield following his move from Roma last summer.
