Brendan Rodgers: 'We got what we deserved'

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers admits that his troops 'got what they deserved' following their capitulation in the 2-2 draw at home to Leicester City.

Brendan Rodgers has conceded that Liverpool 'got what they deserved' in this evening's 2-2 draw with Leicester City.

The Reds looked to be cruising at Anfield after two Steven Gerrard penalties gave the hosts a healthy 2-0 lead.

However, quickfire goals from David Nugent and Jeffrey Schlupp turned the game on its head by the hour mark, and Rodgers says that his side only have themselves to blame.

"I thought we got what we deserved in the end," he told reporters. "I didn't think we played well in all honesty, and I thought Leicester played very well.

"We found ourselves two-nil up in a game we didn't deserve to be, we still created chances but it was always a dangerous game.

"Leicester played very well, they've got players at the top of the field with speed and that's always very dangerous."

Rodgers's side, who had boosted their chances of a top-four finish in recent weeks, stay eighth in the Premier League table but slipped seven points behind fourth-placed Southampton.
