Paul Dalglish: 'Brendan Rodgers needs a winner to help him'

Paul Dalglish believes that Liverpool should appoint an experienced coach to help manager Brendan Rodgers.

Former footballer Paul Dalglish believes that Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers needs an experienced coach to work alongside him at Anfield.

Questions over Rodgers's future have been rumbling over the course of the season as the Reds are unlikely to secure a Champions League spot.

Last season, the Merseyside outfit finished two points behind eventual Premier League champions Manchester City, but today they are currently fifth and seven points behind fourth-placed Manchester United.

While there have been calls for a possible dismissal for Rodgers, Dalglish, who is the son of Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish, believes that he just needs a hand.

"I don't think it is a case of getting rid of Brendan Rodgers," Dalglish told talkSPORT. "I think it is more a case of trying to get somebody in to help him.

"There is no point taking the three-year learnings of a young manager to then go and change things. More important for me would be to get somebody in to help him who has been there, done it and won things."

Rodgers is yet to win a trophy during his spell as Liverpool manager.
