Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has called on his players to ‘repay’ the Anfield following with a win against Brighton & Hove Albion in the Carling Cup after the weekend’s bitter defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Reds go into the third-round tie at Falmer Stadium on the back of a crushing 4-0 loss against Spurs in the Premier League.
“The fans supported us fantastically at Tottenham,” the Daily Star quotes Dalglish as saying. “I think the boys will bear that in mind and look forward to repaying them in some way.
“We have exhausted Sunday with what we have said. It didn’t please anybody and the players were really disappointed.”
The Scotsman is expected to field a strong side against the Seagulls, with captain Steven Gerrard ready to make his competitive comeback from injury.
The England international has not featured for the Reds since the club’s 3-1 win over Manchester United in March last season.
