Jerzy Dudek: 'Liverpool under pressure due to lack of fighters'

Jerzy Dudek believes that everyone at Liverpool is feeling the pressure as their season continues to slump following a 3-0 defeat to Manchester United.

Former Liverpool goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek believes that manager Brendan Rodgers and his players are feeling under pressure this season as they continue their slump.

Questions have been raised about the future of Rodgers after the Reds fell from second in the Premier League last season to winning just two in their last eight league matches.

As well as their poor 11th league position, Liverpool, who sold star striker Luis Suarez to Barcelona in the summer, dropped out of the Champions League at the group stage.

"I think everyone is under pressure at the club," FourFourTwo quotes Dudek as saying. "They had a good season last year, and because of this there is high expectation this season.

"I think they missed Suarez, and because of that they're all under pressure. The boss, the players, but they need to stick together, working hard, especially now before Christmas, and try to sort things out very quickly.

"Liverpool, when they fight all together they get results. When they have lack of fighters on the pitch they are struggling to get results, they need everyone on board and fight to the end."

Liverpool will face Bournemouth in the Capital One Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday evening following last weekend's 3-0 defeat to arch-rivals Manchester United.
