Glen Johnson "proud" to be Liverpool captain

Liverpool defender Glen Johnson tweets his pride at taking the captain's armband after Steven Gerrard went off injured in their 4-1 win against West Ham United.

Liverpool defender Glen Johnson has expressed his pride at wearing the captain's armband.

The England right-back took over as skipper after Steven Gerrard went off injured with what appeared to a hamstring problem in their 4-1 win against West Ham United on Saturday.

Neither Daniel Agger nor Lucas Leiva was in the side to take the armband, and Johnson tweeted his delight at the honour.

"Another great result! Very proud to have worn the armband, just a shame for Stevie!!! #3morepoints" he wrote.

The win moves Brendan Rodgers's men up to second in the Premier League.
