Jurgen Klopp: 'Still room for Liverpool improvement'

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admits that there is still room for improvement from his side following their 1-0 victory over Sunderland.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has insisted that there is still room for improvement from his side following their 1-0 victory over Sunderland this evening.

The Reds saw out 2015 with a second consecutive victory and clean sheet, lifting them up to seventh in the table and level on points with Manchester United.

Klopp acknowledged that his side can do better than edging past a team who have now lost five matches on the bounce, but the German was pleased at having picked up all three points.

"Three points, really hard work. This time of the year is really intense, the players have to fight really hard with games every few days," he told BBC Sport.

"It is not the best we can do, we know this, but we had to fight. We knew about Sunderland's situation. Everyone wants to end the year positively, we can and Sunderland can't but we take these points, go home, sleep two times and onto the next game.

"Football is a lot of things. You have to develop your style but at the end you need results. It is a good day."

Liverpool's first match of 2016 sees them take on West Ham United at Upton Park.
