Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers: 'Simon Mignolet has never cost us a game'

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes that goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has been "outstanding" and has never cost the team a game.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has been full of praise for goalkeeper Simon Mignolet following his arrival from Sunderland last summer.

The Belgium international has received mixed reviews during his first season at Anfield, but Rodgers believes that he is capable of filling Pepe Reina's boots, who is on loan at Napoli.

"I've been delighted with Simon since he has come in," Rodgers told the Liverpool Echo. "I think he's an outstanding goalkeeper who is only going to get better and better.

"I don't forget the significance of some of the saves he has made. Simon hasn't ever cost us a game but he has certainly gained us points. He's an excellent goalkeeper."

Liverpool remain at the top of the Premier League table with two games left, but the race for the title sits in Manchester City's hands as they have a game in hand.
