Swansea City midfielder Jonjo Shelvey admits that he couldn't pass up the opportunity to play under Michael Laudrup after completing a £5m move from Liverpool.

Swansea City midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has admitted that the attraction of playing under Michael Laudrup was too hard for him to turn down.

The England international completed a £5m move to the Liberty Stadium from Liverpool earlier this week after playing three years at Anfield.

Shelvey told the club's official website: "When someone like Michael comes in for you, then you can't really say no. I spoke to him this morning and I liked what he had to say. Fingers crossed, it will all click on the pitch.

"He was one of the world's best players – he has experience of playing for Barcelona and Real Madrid, so hopefully I can get some games under him and progress well.

"I want to learn under him and hopefully he can develop me into a top player."

Shelvey made 32 appearances last season for the Reds in all competitions.
