Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers: 'I believe in myself'

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is confident of turning around the club's form as pressure mounts on the Northern Irishman after a slow start to the season.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has expressed his confidence in himself to turn around the Reds' form after managing just three wins from the club's opening eight matches of the season.

Rodgers is odds-on with some bookmakers to be the first Premier League manager to be sacked this season and former Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp has reportedly declared an interest in taking up a Premier League post.

"There's always going to be speculation around your job," Rodgers told reporters this morning. "Since I've been here, there's probably been 10 managers linked with the job.

"I have regular contact with the owners and the relationship has always been strong. If I'm here for one more day, one month or one year, I'll always do my very best to get results. I enjoy the pressure of the challenge."

Rodgers insisted that he was confident of remaining at Anfield for a "long period".

"My time here has been really enjoyable, and I hope it can continue to be that," he added. "I want to ensure I'm here for a long period. I'll do my best to prepare my players to play exciting, dynamic football, and win games."

After failing to beat Norwich City at home in their last Premier League match and then needing a penalty shootout to beat League Two side Carlisle United at Anfield in the Capital One Cup, Rodgers knows that wins are needed soon.

"I know we need to get results and I embrace that challenge," he said. "I'm a much better manager than three years ago.

"The message (to fans) is to stay with the team. It only takes a couple of results. One win and you're back in the top four."

The 13th-placed Reds have a third straight home game tomorrow against Aston Villa.
