Team News: Daniel Sturridge leads Liverpool line

Daniel Sturridge will lead the line for Liverpool as they welcome an unchanged Newcastle United to Anfield.

Daniel Sturridge will lead the line for Liverpool as they welcome an unchanged Newcastle United to Anfield this afternoon.

Manager Jurgen Klopp makes five changes to the side that thumped Everton in the Merseyside derby on Wednesday, with Sturridge coming in for Divock Origi after the Belgian was stretchered off having scored in the encounter.

James Milner moves further forward to partner Adam Lallana and Roberto Firmino in support of Sturridge, while Philippe Coutinho begins the game among the substitutes.

Lucas Leiva too drops to the bench as Joe Allen and Kevin Stewart return to the starting XI in defensive midfield.

There are two changes in the back four, with Nathaniel Clyne failing to make the matchday squad and Mamadou Sakho out of contention during a UEFA investigation into an alleged anti-doping violation. Kolo Toure and youngster Connor Randall are the men to come in.

Former Reds boss Rafael Benitez names an unchanged Newcastle United side on his return to Anfield, with Papiss Cisse leading the line with assistance from Ayoze Perez.

Liverpool: Mignolet; Randall, Toure, Lovren, Moreno; Stewart, Allen; Milner, Lallana, Firmino; Sturridge
Subs: Ward, Skrtel, Smith, Lucas, Coutinho, Ibe, Ojo

Newcastle United: Darlow; Anita, Mbemba, Lascelles, Dummett; Townsend, Tiote, Colback, Sissoko; Perez; Cisse
Subs: Woodman, Mbabu, Shelvey, Wijnaldum, Aarons, De Jong, Mitrovic
