A thigh complaint prevents Daniel Sturridge from taking his place in the Liverpool team to face West Bromwich Albion.

Daniel Sturridge has failed to shake off a thigh injury in time for Liverpool's home clash against West Bromwich Albion this evening.

As a result, Jonjo Shelvey has come into the starting lineup, with Luis Suarez tasked with playing as a lone striker.

Meanwhile, like Suarez, Shane Long will feature as one-man strike force for the visiting Baggies, who have Youssouf Mulumbu fit again following a spell on the sidelines with a knee problem.

Liverpool: Reina; Johnson, Carragher, Agger, Enrique; Lucas, Gerrard, Henderson, Shelvey, Downing; Suarez

West Brom: Foster; Reid, McAuley, Olsson, Ridgewell; Mulumbu, Yacob; Dorrans, Morrison, Brunt; Long
