Klopp: 'I don't care about title talk'

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp dismisses talk of his side mounting a serious Premier League title challenge this season, insisting that it is too early for such speculation.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has insisted that he is unconcerned by talk of his side mounting a serious challenge for the Premier League title this season.

The Reds are one of three teams currently sitting on 20 points at the top of the table, only behind Manchester City and Arsenal on goal difference.

Liverpool have already faced the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City, Chelsea and Manchester United in their first nine matches, but Klopp stressed that it is still too early to talk about a title tilt.

"I don't care. It's normal in football that when you are in a good position people starting talking a little bit more positive," he told reporters.

"But I don't recognise too much what everybody is saying about us. Of course I recognise the mood around LFC and it's good, but we're still in October. There's a long way to go so there is nothing to say about this."

Liverpool will turn their attentions to an EFL Cup fourth-round meeting with Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday night, and despite their good league form, Klopp insists that his side want to win the trophy having been beaten finalists last season.

"It's a negative sign if we lose a final we say we want to win it next year. It's a very big cup tournament. That is the reason we want to go to the final and win," he added.

Liverpool are currently unbeaten in nine matches in all competitions, winning seven of those.
