Egypt manager Javier Aguirre warns that Mohamed Salah could leave Liverpool if they do not end their trophy drought sooner rather than later.

Egypt head coach Javier Aguirre has warned Liverpool that Mohamed Salah could leave the club if their trophy drought drags on for much longer.

Salah enjoyed a historic debut season at Anfield last term, shattering a host of records on his way to 44 goals across all competitions including 32 in the Premier League.

However, Liverpool once again ended the campaign trophiless and have failed to win any silverware since lifting the League Cup in 2012, and Aguirre believes that Salah may be forced to look elsewhere if that wait does not come to an end sooner rather than later.

"Salah may leave Liverpool in a season or two if he does not win trophies," the 59-year-old told ONSport.

"Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp knows that very well and that's why they are working hard to win trophies."

Salah recently signed a new contract at Anfield which keeps him at the club until 2023.
